Justice Center Project to prevent evictions now managed by IMPACT

Between September 1st, 2020 and February 19th, 2021, the Justice Center Project saved 1,017 households from eviction in Polk County. Among those served were 1,042 children and 1,373 adults.
On February 22, IMPACT Community Action Partnership began taking applications for Emergency Rental Assistance, funded by $14 million from the U.S. Department of Treasury, for families who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This program may provide eligible residents of Polk County with assistance for a period of up to 12 months. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a COVID-related impact to their household income that has affected their ability to pay rent.
The new IMPACT Emergency Rental Assistance Program will be key to preventing evictions in the months ahead. Features of the new program include:
• Assistance with reimbursement of back rent from April 2020 to present.
• Up to three months of future rent can be paid.
• A total of 12 months of back rent and future rent can be paid for a tenant.
• Utilities assistance is available.
• Both tenants and landlords can apply for the program.
