Retiring Board Chair looks at the past year

Vicki Facto has the Floor

The year just ended was a defining one for the Polk County Housing Trust Fund.  The endorsement of the board, engagement of staff and support of the community provided a strong and clear call for our expanded leadership role in shaping the community agenda for affordable housing.  This means providing a long-range strategic vision for Polk County in assessing, coordinating and allocating resources to best retain and grow the inventory of safe, stable and affordable housing.

This focus gives the community confidence that there is an authority on the issue of affordable housing that tracks data and trends, lifts up issues and opportunities, and works to best coordinate our community’s limited resources.  Key communication and education channels now include micro-sites within the PCHTF website for housing policy information for political and community leaders, a catalog of key community demographics, a collection of best practices for delivering affordable housing inventory, a monthly e-Newsletter, and popular, quarterly bus tours, just to name a few.

As I wrap up my two-year term as Board Chair, I want to thank my fellow board members for envisioning PCHTF as the leader in helping to create, advocate for and drive execution of a community Strategic Plan to provide safe, stable and affordable housing.  It has truly defined all that we do and is made possible by PCHTF’s professional staff, our community’s providers and our engaged interns.  Thank you for your tireless commitment and extraordinary talent.
