The Neighbors Get Out
The Can I Be Your Neighbor Campaign goes to Jazz in July
Thanks to a chance to sponsor the Waveland Park/Waterbury Neighborhood Association Jazz in July, hundreds of people were introduced to the CIBYN Campaign. Signs featuring the neighbors’ stories were everywhere. Volunteers answered questions and handed out CIBYN coloring sheets and crayons for the children (and a few adults).
The location was great, right off the first tee of Waveland Golf Course. The weather was perfect, mild and dry. The music was high energy. The cooks from the golf course kept long lines of folks fed and the Templeton Rye Mobile Speakeasy kept the crowd in good humor.
This event is the first of the next steps for the CIBYN Campaign. After an intense spring rollout designed to establish the brand and tone of the campaign, the next activities will take the message directly to the neighborhoods. Convincing residents that affordable housing in their neighborhood is a benefit for them and the entire community is the ultimate goal of the campaign. Opening this dialog through the stories of the Campaign Neighbors allows these discussions to occur in a civil and non-threatening manner.
Watch for the Campaign Neighbors at other neighborhood events. They will be getting out more.
