Our Homes, Our Votes, Our Iowa

PCHTF partners with the National Low Income Housing Coalition to raise affordable housing as a key issue in 2020

Our Homes, Our Votes, Our Iowa

Last month, the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) launched Our Homes, Our Votes: 2020, a non-partisan project to urge presidential candidates to address the affordable housing crisis and its solutions. PCHTF is proud to partner with NLIHC to begin this work with none other than the Iowa Caucuses. In conducting meetings and town halls with presidential candidates to discuss housing affordability in the state of Iowa, we will encourage all presidential candidates to put forward robust solutions to the nation's housing crisis.

Through a new Our Homes, Our Votes: 2020 website, NLIHC is tracking all candidates’ proposals and comments on the housing affordability crisis and sharing an Our Homes, Our Votes 2020 toolkit for NLIHC’s members, partners and allies across the country to similarly engage and capture candidate positions on ending homelessness and housing poverty in America.

Our Homes, Our Votes, Our Iowa calls on candidates to address how they would preserve and build more deeply affordable homes, increase rental assistance, prevent families from eviction and homelessness, and protect renters from discrimination and abuse.

We urge all Iowans to ask the 2020 candidates: What would you do to make homes affordable for our nation’s lowest-income people? And we urge all Iowans to vote – because affordable homes are built with ballots.
