Mark Thompson
Director of Housing Development
Mark Thompson is the Polk County Housing Trust Fund’s Director of Housing Development. In this role, he oversees the integral work of connecting PCHTF financial resources to housing projects that meet the most critical needs in Polk County. Mark is an experienced attorney with a passion for public service. He served as general counsel to the Iowa Finance Authority for 14 years and prior to that as an assistant attorney general for the State of Iowa. In that role, he represented a variety of public entities such as the Iowa Lottery Authority, the Vision Iowa Board, and the Iowa Department of Economic Development. He earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law. Mark is also a board member of Dream Catcher a nonprofit focused on affordable housing that recently opened Lillis Lofts, a 43-unit mixed income apartment community next to Merle Hay Mall in Urbandale.
