What can the program do?

Emergency and essential minor & major home repairs. Aging In Place and Safe and Healthy Home modifications: Interior and exterior painting, window repair/replacement, landscaping, debris removal, tree trimming, caulking, weather stripping, door repair/replacement, door sweeps, furnace repair, medically necessary central air repair, siding & trim repair/replacement, roof repair/replacement, gutter repair/replacement, sidewalk replacement, plumbing, electrical, water heater repair/replacement, handicap accessible ramps, widen doorways, bathtub cutouts and grab bars.

Who is eligible?

Household income must be at or under 60% of the area median income (AMI). Appraised home value must be less than $240,000. Home must be current on property taxes with no liens on the property. Home must be owner-occupied. Rental properties and duplexes are not eligible. Some policy exceptions can be made by the director in emergency situations.

What other policies apply?

Skilled volunteers along with able-bodied members of the recipient’s family and friends complete the repairs at no cost to the family. Because it is primarily a short-term project (one day), major structural repairs are not possible and the amount of work accomplished may be limited. A $15,000 lifetime maximum benefit applies for assistance to each single family home. A $2,000 lifetime maximum benefit applies for mobile homes. There is no cost to the applicant. Use of PCHTF funds to assist a homeowner may require a lien to be placed on the home.
