State dollars help build new housing in Polk County

Spotlight on Iowa Finance Authority

The Board of Directors of the Iowa Finance Authority recently approved the Polk County Housing Trust Fund’s 2015 application for almost $780,000.  This is the second largest award to PCHTF in the organization’s history.

This funding is made available through the State Housing Trust Fund allocation by the State of Iowa.  It is used exclusively to create and preserve inventory of affordable housing in Polk County.

SHTF dollars are matched by local communities and distributed to housing developers based on local priorities established local housing trust fund Board of Directors.  Over the past two years the PCHTF Board has made its top priority providing housing for households making less than 30% of Area Median Income.  “Providing safe, stable and affordable housing for our service workforce has become the Housing Trust Fund’s primary focus,” said Eric Burmeister, its Executive Director.  “This work would not be possible without the generous allocation of State Housing Trust Fund dollars.”
