Say Hello to Our New Intern!

My name is Paige Curtis and I am the new project and event management intern for the Polk County Housing Trust Fund. While working for PCHTF this summer, my job is to assist in the organization of the “Can I Be Your Neighbor?” campaign in coordination with Metro Arts’ Jazz in July concerts.

I will be present with PCHTF at each event to inform the neighborhoods in the metro area about the importance of affordable housing. The average cost of homes and apartments in Polk County is beyond the budget of many people who make our community work. The backbone of our community is people who need affordable housing, and we need them as our neighbors.

I grew up in Norwalk, which is just south of Des Moines. Recently, I graduated from Grand View University with a double major in Public Relations and Graphic Journalism. During my time at school, I also did communications and graphic design work as an intern for the American Heart Association. While I was earning my degrees I was also a member of the new student orientation staff, social coordinator for the Student Leadership Team, and captain of the Grand View Dance Team.  There are certain characteristics that all GV graduates possess: We have a great education; we love the city of Des Moines; and we are great at winning national championships (Go Vikings)!
