PCHTF Fall Bus Tour
Leaders learn about Affordable Rental Housing
Almost 40 Community Leaders rode along with the Polk County Housing Trust Fund staff to see and learn about affordable rental housing in Polk County. The tour included information on and a look at 10 different projects serving families that earn between 30 and 80 percent of area median income.
A stop at Evelyn Davis Park gave the leaders a chance to get off the coach and enjoy a walk around the neighborhood. It allowed them the chance to see several types of affordable housing, including one of the few neighborhoods of single family detached homes, just east of the park. They also heard from PCHTF intern Josh Swinnie, who grew up in the neighborhood and was able speak from first-hand experience about the positive changes to the area that have followed new affordable housing.
The Itinerary for the tour, with pictures and statistics for each of the properties is available from this page. Be sure to take a look. A photo album of the tour is available on our Facebook page. The link is at the very bottom of this page.
Hopefully the leaders came away with more questions than answers. Priming the community for the discussion about ways we can increase and improve our affordable housing stock is part of the mission of the Polk County Housing Trust Fund.
