Iowa Housing Partnership holds first annual meeting
The newly formed Iowa Housing Partnership hosted its first annual meeting earlier this month. Nearly 200 developers, advocates, homeless service providers, and policymakers gathered at the Iowa Convention Center on September 4th to discuss advocacy goals, pressing issues for housing in Iowa, and the success that other midwestern states have had with similar state-wide partnerships.
The meeting began with a substantive discussion from panelists Melissa O’Neil (Executive Director, Central Iowa Shelter Services), Scott Fitzpatrick (Midwest Housing Equity Group), Dan Garrett (WNC), Stephanie Preusch (Executive Director, Neighborhood Finance Corporation), Lisa Houser (Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Iowa), and Rick Hunsaker (Executive Director, Region XII Council of Governments).
In addition to these panelists, Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg and Democratic Party candidate for Governor Fred Hubbell spoke to the group about opportunities for further progress in affordable housing across the state of Iowa, and about the importance of housing supply to support economic development.
The Iowa Housing Partnership works to promote a unified voice in promoting the preservation and production of affordable housing for all Iowans through statewide, national education and advocacy, using accurate and timely information for all decision-makers. The Board of Directors brings together statewide experts in the housing field in order to provide a well-rounded voice and mission to address the state’s most pressing issues:
