Housing Matters Symposium

PCHTF is proud to present its first-ever Housing Matters Symposium! This free event will feature Michelle Winters from the Urban Land Institute Terwilliger Center for Housing, Stephanie Ettinger de Cuba from Children's HealthWatch, and a panel of local experts who will discuss how housing relates to education, health, economic development, and other important factors in our region's high quality of life. The symposium will be held from 8 to 11:30 AM at Des Moines University's Olsen Medical Education Center, 3200 Grand Ave in Des Moines. Read more below, and RSVP to this free event here.

Introducing our speakers:

Michelle McDonough Winters is Visiting Fellow for Housing at the ULI Terwilliger Center for Housing. Ms. Winters brings almost 20 years of experience working in the housing and community development field on issues ranging from housing finance and policy to nonprofit capacity building. She is currently president of Winters Community Strategies, a consulting practice focusing on the intersection of affordable housing and sustainable communities.

Stephanie Ettinger de Cuba is the Research and Policy Director for Children’s HealthWatch.  In this role, she oversees the development of policy-relevant research questions and the analytic process.  She works extensively with policymakers and advocacy organizations to disseminate Children’s HealthWatch original research and provide new trajectories for future investigation.  Additionally, she oversees data collection at the five study sites. Ms. Ettinger de Cuba previously worked for the Agricultural Health Study at the University of Iowa College of Public Health and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bolivia focused on small-scale agriculture and nutrition and hygiene education.
