Drake Neighborhood Activities Update

Welcome to an exciting season of activity in the Northeast Drake Neighborhood.  For nearly a century the Ingleside Hills neighborhood has been a proud and diverse community situated in the heart of Des Moines.  With the financial assistance of many organizations the neighborhood is about to get a $10.0M facelift!  Watch this space for breaking details.

The Polk County Housing Trust Fund is pleased to be involved in the planning and allocation of a $250,000.00 Leading the Way Home grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation.  This grant combined with financial investments from Anawim Housing, Habitat for Humanity, the City of Des Moines, HOME, Inc., Rebuilding Together, Neighborhood Finance Corporation and volunteer efforts from the Drake Neighborhood Association, Wells Fargo Employees, Drake University and others will transform the face of this neighborhood.  It will also kick off a multi-year initiative in the entire Drake Neighborhood to implement the recently completed neighborhood plan.

Look for a lot of activity, a lot of investment, a lot of learning, a lot of volunteer opportunities and most importantly a lot of fun.  Think of it as one REALLY BIG block party!  Save these dates:

Drake Farmers’ Market – Wednesday 4 to 7 through 9/28 @ 25th and University
