Campaign Canvasses Communities

Can I Be Your Neighbor Raises Awareness and Provides You an Opportunity

Campaign Canvasses Communities

Billboards are up and DART buses are rolling with the Can I Be Your Neighbor campaign sharing stories of people and professions who qualify for affordable housing. Launched at the start of Affordable Housing Week, April 15th, the campaign was introduced through newspaper, radio, a special website and posters. Those posters are now available to YOU, at no cost, to have and display at your office and any place that would also like to share their belief that people in our communities should have access to safe, stable and affordable housing.

The marketing and education/advocacy campaign is being paid for by companies who “adopted” each of the posters and is also receiving the support from media partners and DART who provided additional space and publicity. To receive your set of the eight, colorful posters contact Carol duncan at cduncan@pchtf.org or (515) 282-3233.

See the posters at www.canibeyourneighbor.org under heading “Meet the Campaign Neighbors and their Sponsors.” You will see people who contribute to the quality of life in Polk County – such as nurses, teacher’s aides, bank tellers and customer service reps –  and by virtue of income, could qualify for and be in need of affordable housing. You’ll also see who the financial sponsors are who understand and appreciate the advantages safe, stable affordable housing brings to their workplace and to the community. In addition, each is supported by a not-for-profit developer or service provider working to make housing affordable.

Look for the billboards around town, listen for ads on Iowa Public Radio, watch for the DART buses that include advertising of the campaign and follow up today for your set of posters to display and show your support!
