Art & More for Shelter
6th annual Hawthorn Hill fundraiser a success
On April 16, Hawthorn Hill held its 6th annual Art & More for shelter event. The event is a fundraiser for Hawthorn Hill’s two programs that serve homeless families with children: The Home Connection and New Directions Shelter. The event not only raises funds for much needed services for homeless families but also advocates the need for supportive services and truly affordable housing for families in need in central Iowa. Three families that are currently being served by Hawthorn Hill spoke at the event and provided their testimonials concerning facing homelessness and working towards self-sufficiency.
Also at the event, the Polk County Housing Trust Fund was awarded Hawthorn Hill’s 2015 Corporate/Foundation Partner Award. The Polk County Housing Trust fund was given the award for their support for Hawthorn Hill’s The Home Connection program which they have supported since 1998.
