A Legacy of Funding Continues

At its June board meeting the Polk County Housing Trust Fund Board of Directors announced its intent to provide over $550,000.00 in Operating and Supportive Service funding for the next fiscal year.  Since 1998 the PCHTF has allocated almost $8M to community housing providers in the form of Operating and Supportive Service funding.  This funding is used to provide for ongoing operating costs for five providers, Anawim Housing, Community Housing Initiatives, Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, Hawthorn Hill and HOME, Inc.  These organizations assist low and moderate income people access and retain safe, stable and affordable housing.

This funding is the central focus of the PCHTF’s second strategic priority.  The funds are raised from the business community through a combined campaign for private housing dollars.  Through the use of government funds for construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing units the Trust Fund helps build inventory.  Through private donations from the business community the PCHTF helps provide the programs necessary for residents of those units to succeed.
