Community Housing Initiatives
Community Housing Initiatives, Inc. (CHI) is the newest Polk County Housing Trust Fund Housing Partner. Created in 1993, CHI was formed to address the lack of high quality, safe and affordable housing options for Iowa families.
Over the past seventeen years, Community Housing Initiatives, Inc. (CHI) has established itself as one of the most successful developers and managers of affordable rental housing in Iowa. CHI, Inc. has constructed or rehabilitated over 1,200 affordable housing units across the state.
CHI utilizes three primary programs in order to implement housing strategies and contribute to community revitalization: New Construction, Historic Adaptive Re-Use, and Preservation of Affordable Housing. CHI has acquired and rehabilitated 67 units of affordable housing in Polk County since 2007.
CHI is currently rehabilitating 55 units of affordable housing for seniors in West Des Moines.
