PCHTF Accomplishments

Through our programs and support of our non-profit partners—Anawim Housing, Community Housing Development Corporation, Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, Home Opportunities Made Easy (HOME), Inc., The Home Connection—we are pleased to share the following recent accomplishments for FY2009. (7.1.08-6.30.09)

  •  Served 785 households that includes 1,247 children and 977 adults
  • 498 households were stabilized for more than one year (63%)
  • 34 families became homeowners
  • 174 of the households assisted were new to services this year
  • 453 were female headed households
  • 49% of households were African American, 42% were White Non-Hispanic, 6% were Hispanic, 3% were Asian, Native American or undeclared
  • 56% households income were @ or below 30% MFI & 36% were @ 31-50% MFI
  • 75% of families were employed or received Social Security, SSDI or SSI benefits
  • 89, or 11%, of families entering into one of the programs were homeless

 PCHTF statistics for FY2010 (7.1.09-12.31.09) 6 month period

  • 641 households that includes 1,181 children and 835 adults
  • 166 households were stabilized for more than one year
  • 14 became homeowners
  • 385 were female headed households
  • 308 of households were African American, 266 were White Non-Hispanic,
  • 45 were Hispanic, 22 were Asian, Native American or undeclared
  • 330 households income were @ or below 30% MFI & 268 were 31-50% MFI
  • 468 families were employed or received Social Security, SSDI or SSI benefits
  • 86 families entering into one of the programs were homeless

 During FY2009

  •  $1,395,812 was awarded for Owner Occupied Repairs projects, Multi-family Permanent Rental, Single Family New Construction and Acquisition Rehabilitation, Lead Remediation, Repair and Maintenance, and Capital Improvements of Existing Rental and Transitional Units.
  • The $1,395,812 allocated this fiscal year leveraged $19,665.083 for Development Projects in Polk County.

 From July1, 2009 through March 31, 2010

  •  $ 1,174,000 were allocated which leveraged $28,484,356 for Development Projects in Polk County.

 Since its inception in 1995, the Housing Trust has funded over 9,649 affordable housing units, 1,311 were new construction and 8,338 were rehabilitated homes and apartments in the Des Moines metropolitan communities.
