Supporting the Human Side of Housing
Polk County Housing Trust Fund does not directly place individuals in affordable housing. Instead, we help support five non-profit housing providers who serve the lowest income families within Polk County. Through us, funding is provided for
Operating Income: Our funding helps to stabilize the operations of the five non-profit developers who partner with the PCHTF.
Supportive Services: Funding for supportive housing services is designed to help stabilize very low and low income families who are residing in or moving into affordable housing units. This includes services such as case management and housing counseling.
Capacity Building: Financial support in this area enables our non-profit partner agencies to expand their current operations and develop new services to help provide affordable housing.
PCHTF awarded $600,000 to our five non-profit partner agencies for the 2005 calendar year for Operating and Housing Supportive Services. Last year, they served 613 families and 913 children. Fifty-one percent of their clients were from culturally diverse backgrounds, with 94 percent of the families having incomes of under 50 percent median Family Income for Polk County. Another 1258 low-income seniors households were served through the Chore Program.
