Housing fund gets $130,000 in grants
The Polk County Housing Trust Fund has received $130,000 in grants from two Des Moines foundations to aid low-income families with housing needs.The trust also fund received $80,000 from Principal Financial Group Foundation and $50,000 from Nationwide Foundation. Both grants will help the trust fund sustain the activities of five nonprofit housing organizations: Anawim Housing, Community Housing Development Corp., Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, Home Opportunities Made Easy, Inc. and the Home Connection. The Polk County trust fund provides financial assistance for the development of affordable housing units and housing support services.

The Polk County Housing Trust Fund announced today that it received a grant in the amount of $25,000 for the third straight year from Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. The grant was provided to help pay for the activities of five non-profit housing partner organizations: Anawim Housing, Community Housing Development Corp., The Home Connection, Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity Inc. and Home Opportunities Made Easy, Inc. The organizations provide rental, transition and home ownership housing units.
